George Will Slaps Down Media Glbal Warming Chearleaders

George F. Will - Going Green to Alleviate Guilt -- but Not Much Else - washingtonpost.com: "In the history of developed democracies with literate publics served by mass media, there is no precedent for today's media enlistment in the crusade to promote global warming 'awareness.' Concerning this, journalism, which fancies itself skeptical and nonconforming, is neither."

So much said in so few words - awesome.

Another Rational Person SIghting in the Obama Administration

Memo exposes global warming dispute - Washington Times:
"A memo released Tuesday shows an agency within the Obama administration objected to a landmark Environmental Protection Agency ruling on global warming, arguing that it was not based on sound science and could prove costly to businesses."
Uh-oh, somebody's about to lose his job in the Obama White House!

Common Sense Down Under

Carbon Reality, Again - WSJ.com:
"It's turning out that the biggest problem with carbon taxes is political reality. Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has just announced he will delay implementing his trademark cap-and-trade emissions trading proposal until at least 2011. Mr. Rudd's March proposal would have imposed total carbon permit costs (taxes) of 11.5 billion Australian dollars (US$8.5 billion) in the first two years, starting in 2010. This would have increased consumer prices by about 1.1% and shaved 0.1% off annual GDP growth until at least 2050, according to Australia's Treasury.

Some nations understand that the world has nothing to gain from them committing economic suicide in the name of "climate change."

Whoopee!!!

Congress Balks at Barack Obama's Cap and Trade Proposal - WSJ.com:
"Please pass Al Gore a Valium -- and better make it a double -- because his cap-and-trade dreams just took a dive in the U.S. Senate. In a vote late Wednesday, no fewer than 26 Democrats joined all 41 Republicans to insist that any new cap and tax on carbon energy would require at least 60 votes."

Something to celebrate! Not all Democrats have a death wish. Particularly gratifying since this vote took place while the President was in Europe genuflecting before the altar of "Climate Change."

The BIggest Threat To Freedom and Prosperity

IBDeditorials.com: Editorials, Political Cartoons, and Polls from Investor's Business Daily -- Copenhagen: Environmental Munich:
"Writing in the Financial Times recently, Czech President Vaclav Klaus said: 'As someone who lived under communism for most of his life, I feel obliged to say that I see the biggest threat to freedom, democracy, the market economy and prosperity now is ambitious environmentalism, not communism.' Klaus told the Cato Institute recently that 'environmentalism is a religion' that accepts global warming on faith and seeks to exploit it to reshape the world and economic social order."

Read this piece on the UN meetings taking place in Copenhagen. The accord they hope to pass represents a suicide pact for western economies. The anti-capitalists have repeatedly failed to gain public support in the US. Environmentalism is their back-door way of accomplishing their agenda.

Save the Planet - Leave Your Escalade Idling in the Driveway!

IBDeditorials.com: Editorials, Political Cartoons, and Polls from Investor's Business Daily -- James Hansen's Political Science:
"'Many people don't realize that over geological time, we're really in a CO2 famine now. Almost never has CO2 . . . been as low as it has been in the Holocene (geologic epoch) — 280 (parts per million) — that's unheard of,' said Happer. He notes the earth and humanity did just fine when CO2 levels were much higher."

A lot of interesting facts and quotes in this IBD Editorial about the lunacy of the "climate change" fundamentalists. If the issue were truly the environment, these crusaders would be willing to look at the scientific facts. But it's not about the environment. It's about a huge new tax hiding under the name "cap and trade" and the power that goes along with all that new revenue.
